Friedman Opinion Columnist Sept. 2, 2025, 5:02 a.m. ET China and America donβt know it yet, but the artificial intelligence revolution is going to drive them closer together, not farther apart. The rise of A.I. will force them to fiercely compete for dominance and β at the same time and with equal energy β cooperate at a depth our two countries have never attempted before. They will have no choice. Why am I so confident about that? Because A.I. has certain unique attributes and poses certain challenges that are different from those presented by any previous technology.
